In embroidery, couching and laid work are techniques in which yarn or other materials are laid across the surface of the ground fabric and fastened in place with small stitches of the same or a different yarn. The couching threads may be either the same colour as the laid threads or a contrasting colour.
Couching Thread 371 is a synthetic thread wrapped around a cotton core. The thread is straight and smooth in appearance and turns corners easily when using fine tipped tweezers.
The thread can also be used for plaited braid stitch, filling areas in couching and for Or Nue (a form of goldwork embroidery) and although it looks like a real metal thread, it will not tarnish.
